Stephen Kelly was born in Whitehaven, England in 1983. He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Documentary Photography from the University of Wales, Newport and is currently undertaking an MFA in Photography at the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University.
His most recent personal works explore themes of history, home, transition and identity in Yangon, Myanmar.
Alongside his own projects, he has worked on a variety of commissions over the last decade, predominantly in Asia. Stephens clients have included WWF, ActionAid, Oxfam, UNHCR, IOM, The Observer Magazine, The Independent Magazine, D La Repubblica Delle Donne, IL Magazine, The Fader Magazine, The New York Times, Tages Anzeiger, Bergens Tidende and Bloomberg amongst others.
Stephen regularly delivers workshops, and has spoken about his work at such institutions as Hong Kong Baptist University, Accademia di architettura di Mendrisio and the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) .
